About Me

Hello, and welcome to my portfolio. My name is Megan Wright and I am from Wheeling, WV. I received my Bachelor's of Science degree from West Liberty University in 2021 where I majored in Pre-Professional Speech Pathology and Audiology and minored in Music. During my undergraduate education I fell in love with the field of speech pathology and knew for certain that I was interested in pursuing the career further to become a certified speech-language pathologist. I began attending Marshall University in 2021 where I am in the process of obtaining my Mater's of Science degree in Communication Disorders. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, exercising, exploring local coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends.

My Professional Practice Philosophy

As a clinician, I hold several values related to providing therapeutic services. I believe that to offer my patients hope, I must be a clinician who listens so that they know that they always have a voice, I must conduct myself with kindness to create a space of warmth, and I must embrace lifelong learning to provide excellent care. A major aspect of my professional philosophy that helps me to accomplish those things is a functional therapy approach. I believe that all therapy tasks should be functional, in that they are helpful to meet a person's daily needs and improve their overall quality of life. If a task is only useful in the therapy room and does not meet a patient's needs in other areas of life, it is not a goal that should be targeted. To ensure that I incorporate a functional approach to treatment, I gain the perspectives of my clients and their families and take their own values into consideration when formulating a treatment plan.

Megan has demonstrated curiosity about her clients and her willingness to accept and implement feedback in a timely manner has helped her provide high-quality, evidence-based intervention.
